Self-Care, Self-Start Clutter Clearing

by Noreen Baker

Timer

One way to take care of yourself and your clutter when it has gotten out of hand is to use a timer.  One hour a day can get you pretty far in a week.  Then, two hours a day.  Make the timer work for you and develop a routine.  I do clutter maintenance once a week.  Decide what’s best for you.

Checklist

  • Do I love this item?
  • When did I last use it?
  • Is it broken?  Can it be repaired?
  • How many similar items do I have?
  • Is this item or information available elsewhere?  Internet?  Safety Deposit Box?

Treat Yourself

I suggest treating yourself, giving yourself a reward for your hard work…  hot bath, dinner out, a break from all other work that day.  Whatever makes you feel rewarded.
